Homeward.

My 98 days across the Atlantic were absolutely incredible; I didn't want to say goodbye. From London to Austria, to Munich, to Croatia, to Vienna, to Paris, to Amsterdam, to Budapest, to Prague, to Venice, these past three months have been the best ones yet.

I've officially been home for two weeks and I can't help but miss everything about Europe. I miss struggling with speaking German, as weird as that may sound, and just smiling and waving at people who liked to believe I could understand them. I miss the foggy mornings and falling asleep to the rain. Eating pastries and drinking coffee on the daily and taking in the brisk days in Salzburg. I miss the thrill of seeing new places and not knowing what to expect. Getting lost in unknown countries with no cellular data and struggling to find wifi. All of it.

I went into this whole adventure with no expectations, probably why I was freaking out on my flight from LAX. And well, Austria exceeded any trail of expectation I may have had. I could not have done this without the support and encouragement from my family and friends. All chances taken.

Mom and Dad- thanks for, literally, giving me the world.
See you soon, Austria.

Winter

During my last weekend in Austria, my friends Trey and Carlos came to visit. It had been ridiculously cold all week so we were determined to find snow. Just the weekend before, a couple of friends and I had hiked Gaisberg Mountain and it was really sunny and clear at the top. Well, we went back up, Carlos, Trey, and I, and found SO much snow!! It was so beautiful. We hiked up the mountain for about an hour and had a snowball fight. We were so happy to have found snow, great last weekend in Salzburg.

Month 3 of 3

November is a blur. I started off the month somewhere in Budapest, then hopped off to Prague the weekend after. Rache and I had some sweet visitor this month so we spent a lot of time in Salzburg. On the 14th, Rache's parents came into town and I was fully taken in as a Rausch (Alba Rausch, nice tune right?). I had such a great couple of days, it felt nice to be surrounded by familiar faces :)
On the 20th, the Christmas markets opened...this may be my favorite part of the month. I love Christmas and all that comes with it. The cold, the decorations, hot wine, pretzels, ah... everything. I had a little piece of home with me the last week of November- Amanda, Katrina, and Summer came to visit for 8 days. We had such a blast on our weekend trip to Venice and I absolutely loved showing them around Salzburg. We had sausages and pretzels and coffee on the daily, healthy meal right? They were my little locals by the end of the week which made me so so happy. We went on a day-trip to Innsbruck that last weekend as well and it was so so pretty. We walked around the Christmas Markets there and I scored a sweet pair of oxfords for 10 euro! A couple of friends and I hiked Gaisberg in Salzburg, the view from above the clouds was amazing. You were great, November.
